Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
How we support student wellbeing
The Resilience Project
At our school, we are committed to fostering positive mental health and wellbeing through The Resilience Project. Our students engage in weekly lessons that teach valuable skills based on the core principles of GEM — Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness. These lessons help students develop resilience and coping strategies to manage challenges both in and out of school. We regularly share information about The Resilience Project with parents through our school newsletters, keeping families informed and involved in supporting their children’s emotional wellbeing. Our Parent & Citizens (P&C) Association also supports these initiatives and teachers at our school have completed professional learning in The Resilience Project to ensure the program is delivered effectively and meaningfully.

Our school is proud to participate in Be You, a national mental health initiative that supports educators and students in promoting positive wellbeing and resilience. Be You provides us with valuable resources, professional learning, and strategies to create a mentally healthy and inclusive learning environment. Through this program, our teachers have gained knowledge and skills to effectively support the social and emotional development of every student. Be You also encourages building strong connections between families, staff, and the community in order to nurture a supportive school culture.
To further promote a positive school culture and sense of belonging, we have a Wellbeing Sub Committee as part of our P&C. This group organises regular lunchtime activities that encourage student engagement and connection. In addition, the committee is dedicated to supporting families by hosting guest speakers who address relevant topics and issues affecting students and their wellbeing.
Targeted wellbeing support for students as needed
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social, and physical wellbeing is an important part of everyday school life. Sometimes, students may benefit from extra support tailored to their individual needs to help them overcome challenges and succeed.
We do this through:
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication about wellbeing and support.
